A local gang in Starokorsunskaya, in south-west Russia were harassing a woman in a bar last year. Little did they that her boyfriend was Nicolai Vlasenko, 29, a professional boxer and martial artist. When Vlasenko returned from the bathroom, he asked the group to leave her alone. The group’s leader, Leonti Yevdokimov, 33, asked the fighter to step outside. He obliged:
Eldar Vinogradoff, 27 witness the whole thing unfold gave his version of events: “When they went outside, the others were there mob-handed. There were at least 10 of them led by the two who thought they were real big shots. One of them took off his shirt and started squaring up to the boxer, and I don’t think he even knew what hit him when he went down like a nine pin. A second man tried to kick the boxer and he was floored instantly as well.
“Then a third man joined in, and he was left staggering and on the point of collapsing after taking three blows to the head and not landing once himself.”Police issued a statement saying that would take no action after the incidnet as the CCTV images showed that Vlasenko was clearly acting in self-defense and that he had been on his own against nearly a dozen opponents.
Vlasenko’s lawer issued a statement saying: “My client wasn’t prepared to allow them to harass his wife. He was prepared to discuss it in a reasonable manner, but when they resorted to force than he was forced to defend himself with inevitable consequences.”
